Vehicle navigation technology allows the user to view their current location, input a destination, and receive both visual and audible commands to reach their destination safely and efficiently. With interfacing onboard gyros and the Global Positioning System (GPS) to an embedded digital map you can be assured you will always know where you are within feet.
North Olmsted Performance only trusts two manufacturers to provide an outstanding navigation system to their clients, ALPINE and KENWOOD, each making a statement by offering quality and performance over worthless gimmicks.
North Olmsted Performance offers three types of navigation systems; stand alone, multi-media based, and portable. Each version offers the user over 5-9 million Points of Interests (POI), touch screen control, visual and audible guidance, automatic reroute, full coverage across the Unites States and Canada, and much more.
- Stand alone: This type of navigation is hard wired into the vehicle and viewed through a separate screen mounted on the dashboard, in the visor, in an overhead, or in a center console. This unit is not transferable from vehicle to vehicle easily and cost effectively. However, this type of navigation will offer the user far more features than a portable navigation unit. With a custom installation at North Olmsted Performance we can interface this unit seamlessly into any vehicle as if it was designed as a factory option.
- Multi-media based: This type of navigation system either comes as a complete multi-media station such as the Kenwood or a separate control station as with the Alpines. These units replace the factory radio and become the central control station for the navigation and audio system. The advantage to this type of setup starts with its central control, everything you need or want in an audio, video, and navigation system is at one central point in the vehicle. Flexibility is the greatest when using this type of system. For example, viewing the navigation screen, while listening to an iPod, Satellite Radio, CD, DVD, or MP3 player over the factory speakers (replace for best results).
- Portable: This is a new category for North Olmsted Performance. Before today, we could not offer a “Quality” portable navigation option for consumers. Along comes Alpine, the most trusted name in navigation, with the introduction of their new “BLACKBIRD” portable navigation unit. Not only is it a portable navigation unit that can be taken anywhere, but it also doubles as a MP3 player via a MMC/SD slot. This touch screen unit is packed with features such as maps of all 50 States and Canada, 6 million points of interest, built in RDS traffic tuner to alert of traffic incidents and congestion, and much more.
